Thanksgiving Craft: Name Place Settings

This fun craft will have you making cute little pilgram hats and native head-dresses to mark each person's place at your Thanksgiving table!

Name Place Settings for Thanksgiving

What you need:

Blue Check Mark Construction paper
Blue Check Scissors
Blue Check Toilet paper or paper towel roll
Blue Check Markers, pencil crayons or crayons
Blue Check White glue
Blue Check Tape
Blue Check Toothpicks
What you do:
1. Cut rings from the toilet paper or paper towel roll: 2 inches high for the pilgram hat and an inch high for the native head-dress.

For the pilgram hat:
2. Cut a strip of black construction paper 2 inches high so that it will cover the roll. Glue the strip around the 2 inch ring. Place glue on the contruction paper where there is overlap and press the construction paper down onto itself.

3. Trace the circle end of the roll onto black construction paper. Cut out the circle. Place glue around the top edge of the roll and set the black circle on top of this.

4. Trace a larger circle, again on black construction paper. Cut out the circle. Place glue around the bottom edge of the roll and set it down in the middle of the large black circle.

5. Cut a small strip of white paper (about 3 quarters of an inch high). Glue the strip around the bottom of the roll, so that it touches the larger black circle. Place glue on the white paper where there is overlap and press the paper down onto itself.

6. Cut a rectangle just larger than 3 quartes of an inch high out of yellow construction paper. This will be the buckle. Fold this rectangle in half width-wise and on the folded edge, cut out a smaller rectangle. Open up the yellow paper and glue it on the front of the hat, over the white strip, so that part of the buckle will sit over the white line.

7. To make the name tags, cut out rectangles on white paper. Carefully print each guest's name. Glue one end of the name tag onto a wooden toothpick as shown, and then glue or tape the toothpick to the hat.

For the native head-dress:
2. Cut two strips of orange construction paper one inch high so that it will cover the roll. Glue one strip around the inside of the 1 inch ring and glue one on the outside. Place glue on the contruction paper where there is overlap and press the construction paper down onto itself.

3. Cut feathers from different colors of construction paper. We fringed the edges of our feathers. Gather your feathers and glue them onto the head-dress.

4. With markers or crayons and draw a native pattern on the orange construction paper.

5. To make the name tags, cut out rectangles on white paper. Carefully print each guest's name. Glue one end of the name tag onto a wooden toothpick as shown, and then glue or tape the toothpick to the head-dress.
