Click on the correct size for the picture of your choice and right-click on the full-size image that appears. In the contextual menu that appears, choose Set as Wallpaper. Open the Display control panel or right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. In the Background tab, choose Display: Center. Click the OK or Apply button and you're done.

Patterns:

Right-click on the pattern of your choice. In the contextual menu that appears, choose Set as Wallpaper. Open the Display control panel or right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. In the Background tab choose Display: Tile. Click the OK or Apply button and you're done.
